I recently had my entire CD collection professionally ripped to AIFF format, and I’ve placed the files on a dedicated SAN drive (WD MyCloud) for use with Sonos. At full CD resolution each song is over 50 MB, and pushing this much data through my wireless network means the audio is prone to dropouts, especially if I’m surfing the net. So, it became necessary to compress the files to a smaller format. With nearly 1TB of files (about 900 CDs), I needed a tool with excellent batch capabilities.
This application does the job and I am very happy with the purchase. It’s simple, easy to understand, and performance is rock solid.
The key feature is that it has a configuration item (in preferences) that preserves the original directory structure. So, I can create a parallel MP3 library to my AIFF library with one simple set up. The conversion process takes time, but once it’s done, that’s it. Set up; walk away; come back later and you’re ready to go. No hassles.
Well worth the investment!
